Messages from an angry and emotional owner

I had a few heated exchanges of messages with an incorrigible and emotional owner from Platinum this morning. It kept me occupied the whole morning. Some messages were quite intimidating. The first message that I received was that he called me stupid for removing the car parks at the back of the guardhouse. If it's so serious, there would have been a big outburst from the owners. I said that we did it for the convenience of the owners. Moreover, we have ample parking lots for visitors which some owners abused. Our priority is the owners and not the visitors. He did not bite my argument and went on to say something about the students which I feel is his main issue. I tried to explain but I got annoyed when I received such intimidating messages and unfounded allegations:

" Ok i will monitor u n jmb from time to time. If i not satisfied with u performance i ll bang u all. Dont play around with us. "

" Not the student issue. To many issue. I don want to talk about student. because u all love student. Maybe u all get paid from them. We never know. The issue is"

" That why la i ckp u STUPID. Don want to listen to the owners yg stay kat situ bahalol. Skrg student dah start mencuri u pun tak tau sebab nak hide from owner. "

These are some of the messages that I received. I told him to list out all his issues to the management. He replied that " Don waste my time. You know all the issues " I further reminded him that should anything happen to any of the committee members, I will not hesitate to pass his message to the police. I guess this guy must be linked to a small group of owners. We haven't spent any money on anything yet, there is already allegation of corruption.. This is the type of owner who will resort to character assassination and making all kinds of slanderous remarks to create a negative perception of the JMC. I am sure he is already carrying out a smear campaign. You can bet that the next AGM will be a hot affair for the owners. They will scream and shout, they will bang tables to intimidate you creating disharmony among the communities who live here. As I have said in my previous blog, our motto is integrity, transparency and accountability. If you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear.

If he knows someone is stealing, why didn't he make a report to the police or the security. Whatever we do or the management does will not satisfy him. He will make use of every opportunity to attack the JMC or the management. I have come across many types of these owners who link us to money in whatever thing we do. He sounded like Platinum is a big gold mine.

Did he give us any credit when we revised the cost of the new card and the damaged card? Did he give us any credit when the JMC decided to waive the 5% surcharge on water? Did he realize that the JMC save about RM 200 000 on the lift maintenance fee and the swimming pool maintenance fee when we managed to convince the developer to waive them for 18 months? Did we do all these for money???????????? I was only appointed to the post for 3 weeks. Students' issues ( I may elaborate more in my next blog ) need time to be resolved. Overcrowding and social behaviours are not something that you can solve overnight. We are not from the barbaric society by taking laws into our own hands. We can't play policemen and guardians here.

Goodnight and have a nice day.

  1. Merry Christmas Mr. See,

First of all i'm so grateful to see this blog. I can know more updates about JMC PV10 first hand from here. Unfortunately, i still think it is inadequate as i believe most of the owners in PV10 doesn't know the existence of this blog or some who doesn't even have knowledge about internet.

Secondly, i would like to say thanks for the job done so far. I do see some improvement. I sincerely hope things can get better with you at the helm.

I would like to take this chance to ask you some questions.

1.When is our next meeting? I thought it has been mentioned somewhere after Hari Raya but it is way past now.

2.All of us in PV10 would like to know the progress on the Cosmopoint affair. Can we stop them from moving in new students? I still see new students moving in on weekends accompanied by their parents. Made the PV10 entrance looks like we're having a carnival here.

3.Is it possible to get the developer to install CCTVs on every floor? This will certainly deter any thefts or break in from happening.

4.Is there a way we can stop the bulk of people who are waiting at the door to enter when someone is opening the door? I'm so fed up of this situation. At times when we are inside waiting for the lift, they even have the balls to knock on the glass door and ask us to open the door for them.

As for the owner who is being emotional, just ignore him and do your job. I voted for you during the AGM and i will continue to back you up.

  2. We are not going to hold any meeting in the near future but we shall keep you informed on what the JMC is doing through this blog or the notice board. As I 've said we are very transparent. Should you wish to see any documents like the minutes of meeting or account, you are welcomed to make an appointment with any of the committe members or me. We have a very comfortable JMB office right beside the management office.

With regards to the Cosmopoint college, according to the management office there is no significant increase in the no of students. The college is reshuffling the students, taking out the males and moving in the females in order to prevent any social ills. We were supposed to have a meeting with the college's principal and unfortunately he was affected by the landslide Bukit Antarangbansa. The students from this college are already barred from using the common facilities at Platinum. I felt that the situation has improved a lot. You hardly see students loitering at the pool side or the mamak shop. We had given strict instruction to the management to remove the chairs and tables from the corridor. It was an uphill task but we managed to do it. To be honest with you, we have no control over the agents or the owners who wist to rent out their units to cosmopoint. The only thing we can do is make them feel unwelcome and to control the no of students per unit.

To install cctv on every floor will be cost prohibitive. Monitoring them will become a problem too. We are in the process of carrying out more stringent control at the guardhouse by replacing the current sec company with a better one.

The access card has one drawback. It allows residents without cards to enter during the peak time. In the night, you should feel secured when potential burglars find it difficult to enter. A potential burglar will not carry any job during the peak time.

Thank you for your comment and feedback. Hear to hear more of you in the near future and goodnight.

  4. Mr See,
So glad to have this blog.
I really appreciate the effort by JMB to make some changes to our condo.

    I am here to suggest : -

    1) My house is facing the phase 3 site, and i find that the "speed slower road block" is not enough, there are a lot of "super motorbike heroes" racing over there. It is very dangerous for us who driving "normally" and it is making lots of noise. Can we build some "road blocks" ?

  5. Mr See,
nice to hv u helming the committee.
Yr good efforts in cost reduction and
    security/enviromental enhancements are
the most commendable. Plis also continue
    to facilitate/lead the committee with
great integrity and transparency and make
sure there's no chance for corruptive practices
    to manifest.
Sincerely speaking, i do not hv any grievances orgrouses over the performance of yr team thus far.
The only constraint i encountered and hilited
many times, that's on the accessibility of the condo back door is still unresolved and outstanding after many moons. With yr prudent managerial skill, i expect the aforesaid constraint is eliminated in no time.
We badly need to use the back door access conveniences for time/energy saving via shortening of travelling distances in running our routine errands and attending school.
Plis view the issue seriously and hv a quick fix.

    Hv a nice day.

  6. Encik Azmi,

  9. hallo mr see..well the problem about this student is that they all staying in one unit more than allowed...for the records can u give me how many unit are being rent for Cosmopoint student?and how many are there per unit?
Yeah..u are right when saying its not your fault they stay here..but then we should have a mechanism to control their existence here..we should enforce the rules not just making a rule

  10. orang melayu cakap...rambut sama hitam hati lain-lain...actually this maybe becoz of their frustration...the main issue is Cosmopoint student...there are too many of the here...its a lie if the management are saying they have shifted the male student from here..i see a lot male new faces..its only their cover up
What u should do is enforce the house rules...rumors are saying there is almost 12 people per house..is it true?can u give the fact...is it true

  11. hai kay,

the present security co is incapable of enforcing the house rules. we are in the process of changing the security company.

  13. the matter will be brought to the attention of the committee. we need to consider many factors before it can be done. more guards are required to man the exit.. it is easier to control one access tha two

  14. FOR INFO YESTERDAY NUMBER OF NEW STUDENT COMING IN...DID jmc GET INFO...I THINK jmc SHOULD TACKLE THIS MATTER...RIGHT NOW MAYBE SOME OF US ARE ANGRY SEEING OUR CONDO BECAME HOSTEL...IM AFRAID ONE DAY PEOPLE WILL GET REALLY ANGRY AND FED UP...WE SHOULD CHARGE EXTRA TO PEOPLE WHO RENT THEIR HOUSE TO STUDENT...MAYBE 20 CENT PER SQUARE FEET...BECAUSE THEIR PRESENCE ARE BURDEN FOR THE MANAGEMENT...

  16. Dear Kay,

Perhaps, you can offer some practical solutions on how we can stop the students from coming to Platinum. Bear in mind that whatever we do we have to do it within the boundary of the laws. We cannot take the laws into our own hands. We may expose ourselves to legal action of which our management fund shall be utilized to defend ourselves.
If you can compare the situation now and then, you have to acknowledge that there is alot of improvement. They are not allowed to use the common facilities. They are complying with the rules obediently although the rules apply specifically to them and not the TAR students and the foreigners, the somalis. They never asked why. Certainly, there will be some isolated cases whereby you can find some stuborn students and likewise there are also some stuborn owners. You can go any condos around setapak area and you can never avoid them. Sometimes, we have to learn to co-exist with them. Students are students and you don't expect them to behave like us. we were students once.
We hardly see them loitering around anymore.the owners have made known to them they are unwelcome.

This is an issue which is not easy to resolve. Any committee in charge will face this problem. In the first place, we have no control over the owners who want to rent out their units to students. We cannot simply come out with rules that forbid the owners from renting out their units to tenants of our choice.

MR kay, we wish to share your views on how we can resolve the issue. Do free to comment.
    TQ

  17. what a shit management method provided by PV condominium?? the service in management office is very bad and unfair...we act as owner for our own property but seem like don't have the right to do anythings... the management office like to said or do whatever they like, always make owner feel suffer, angry and unfair...as an example, we need to make an application if we need to start a renovation in our house, the management office will charge rm1200 when the house owner need to do some interior renovation, which rm200 is non-refundable and rm1000 is refundable... i can understand that they need to charge rm200 for cleaning service during renovation period, this is ok for me and acceptable... the application form do not list down any term and condition or mention that when we will get back our money amount rm1000... after the completion of renovation works, they will give many reasons do no refund money to us or delay the time to refund...they need to do checking first before return back our money... ok, this is ok and we just waiting for their checking, but after everything is ok and done, they said we need to wait for 3 weeks just can get back our money.. what rule is it?!! they din't said or mention at the beginning we make application and payment.. they all like to do or say whatever they like and beneficial to them... we do not have the right to say NO or do anythings... just can follow what they saying... this is no fair to us.. if the process is like that, why don't they mention it first before we make payment... and we still need do working, how come we everyday go there do whatever they want??!! the service in management office is very worst and staff at there was not friendly... why we need to pay so many money and the result is treated by this way?!!! and when we argue with them, the result is we are the emotional owner, we really feel very sadness and disappointed with the service provided by PV management office... that is too worst...
Ps. PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE AND MANNER FOR MANAGEMENT OFFICE
